Privacy policy
Last updated July 12, 2026
Podcli is a free, open-source project I build and run on my own. This policy explains what happens to your data on this website and when you sponsor the project. The short version: the app runs on your computer and sends me nothing, and I keep the website side as light as I can.
The short version
- The Podcli app runs entirely on your machine. Your video, transcripts, and renders never reach me.
- This website uses Google Analytics to see roughly how many people visit and what they read. Nothing more.
- If you sponsor, Creem handles the checkout and your card details. I never see them.
- I don’t sell your data, and I never will.
The Podcli app
The app is local-first. When you transcribe an episode or render a clip, everything stays on your computer: the source video, the transcript, the finished clips, and any settings you save.
Some features are optional and call an outside service directly from your machine, using your own API key. AI clip suggestions send the transcript to Anthropic (Claude) or your chosen provider. That request goes from you to them, not through me, and it’s covered by that provider’s own privacy policy. I don’t receive a copy of any of it.
What this website collects
Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics, which collects aggregate, non-identifying usage data: which pages you view, the type of device and browser you use, a rough location based on your IP address, and the link that sent you here. I use it to understand what people find useful, not to identify anyone.
Your homepage preference. The site remembers whether you prefer the creator or developer version of the homepage by saving a small value (podcli-audience) in your browser’s local storage. It stays in your browser and is never sent to me.
GitHub stars. Some pages show the project’s star count, which is fetched from GitHub’s public API. No personal data is involved.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard server logs such as IP addresses to serve the pages and protect against abuse.
Sponsorships and payments
Sponsorships are sold and processed by Creem, which acts as the merchant of record. Creem runs the checkout and handles billing and tax. You enter your payment details on Creem’s checkout, not on this site, and Creem collects the information it needs to take the payment (name, email, billing details) under its own privacy policy.
From Creem I receive only what I need to fulfil the sponsorship: who sponsored, which tier, and a way to reach you to set up your logo and link. I never see your card details. I use your contact information only to manage your sponsorship, and I don’t add you to any marketing list.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure visits. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on. The site works fine either way.
Who I share data with
I don’t sell or rent your data. It’s only ever handled by the services that make this site run: Google Analytics for usage measurement, Vercel for hosting, and Creem for sponsorship payments. Each has its own privacy policy.
Your choices
You can opt out of analytics as described above, and you can clear the homepage preference by clearing your browser storage. If you’ve sponsored and want to know what I hold about you, or want it removed, just email me and I’ll sort it out.
Children
Podcli isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If I change how any of this works, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. Nothing here is set in stone as the project grows.
